Your purpose…

This position offers a great opportunity to be part of an incredible team of industry leaders. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, the Finance Operations Lead will play an integral role in maintaining the smooth operation of our financial systems in support of our co-operative.

 

  • Hours: 35 hours/week, 9:00am to 5:00pm PST, Monday to Friday (or as agreed upon with Team Lead). Overtime may be required as part of annual salary. All conditions of employment will be in accordance with the BC Employment Standards Act.

You are:

  • Incredibly organized and keen to work in a deadline-driven and constantly evolving workplace.

You have:

  • Diploma or higher in a related discipline (i.e. business, finance, economics, management).

  • 5+ years in a senior finance role.

  • Expert knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.

  • Strong familiarity with provincial and federal legislation relating to employment and labour standards, tax law, Canada Revenue Agency requirements, and other relevant legislation and guidelines.

  • Experience with financial audits in small and medium-sized businesses.

  • Very comfortable with MS Excel and other financial tools (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions).

  • Familiarity with accounting software and payment gateways (e.g. Quickbooks, Paypal, Payoneer, etc.).

You might also have:

  • Finance designation (CPA, CA, CFA, or other).

  • Experience with international finance practices (multiple currencies etc.).

Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee all day-to-day finance operations.

  • Integrate values of transparency into financial processes and decision-making through clear and direct communication and reporting.

  • Ensure all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting activities are completed in an effective, timely, and accurate manner.

  • Monitor all trends to identify variances and causation, making recommendations to Senior Leadership in support of co-op goals.

  • Establish and maintain accurate reporting of key financial KPIs and prepare regular reports to improve overall co-op operations.

  • Coordinate and comply with financial audits.

  • Develop annual budgets in collaboration with Senior Leadership in support of co-op objectives.

  • Provide financial insight into pricing models and viability of new product offerings.

  • Update and analyze financial models.

  • Ensure compliance and mitigate financial risk.

  • Develop and implement financial controls and policies.

  • Manage cash flow.
